Osvaldo A. Rodriguez Rivera M.S., born and raised in Puerto Rico, started his Bachelor of Science in the University of Puerto Rico-Río Piedras in 2016. Shortly after the start of his second year, the island was hit with Hurricane Maria, leading to him leaving the island to continue his educational career. Osvaldo landed at St. Thomas University in Miami, Florida, where he completed his last three years of his undergraduate degree earning a Bachelor of Science in Natural Sciences. With the onset of COVID-19 pandemic, Osvaldo returned to Puerto Rico. Later in 2022, Osvaldo started his Masters Degree in Biotechnology in Regenerative Medicine and Entrepreneurship at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU). A year and a half later, after the completion of his Master of Science, he started his new role as the Assistant Director of CWRU’s recently obtained Science and Technology incubator.
Osvaldo, as the Assistant Director of CWRU’s incubator, brings valuable hands-on experience by administering the incubator over the past year, where he’s gained insights and practical knowledge from a first-person perspective. In his role, Osvaldo manages daily operations and serves as the primary point of contact for all companies associated with the incubator, ranging from long-term participants to prospective members.
His responsibilities include briefing companies on available resources and space, handling agreements for new and existing members, onboarding new companies, and overseeing daily operations. Additionally, Osvaldo coordinates incubator programming, including networking and educational events, and represents the incubator at conferences where he successfully showcases the program. These efforts have contributed to a significant increase in the number of participating companies, doubling the total compared to the previous administration at the time of CWRU's takeover.
Beyond his direct responsibilities, Osvaldo has cultivated connections with entrepreneurs, CEOs, and directors of educational programs, receiving valuable support. These relationships have the potential to yield meaningful outcomes for BioGenesis Puerto Rico, such as his collaboration with the Director of the Regenerative Medicine and Entrepreneurship Master’s program at CWRU and potential collaborations with the National Center for Regenerative Medicine, further enhancing the incubator's impact.
When his passion for his homeland Puerto Rico and Science intertwined, BioGenesis Puerto Rico was born as an idea, with a clear vision: give back to Puerto Rico creating more and better opportunities in the STEM field. Osvaldo strongly believes in the capabilities of the island’s students and professionals and their potential to keep fortifying the island’s global position in STEM. As the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of BGPR, Osvaldo is committed to making a positive social impact in Puerto Rico creating opportunities with extreme potential, driven by his love for the island, the lessons learned, and the skills acquired throughout his journey.
